Sub Pop prototype from 1989

Made In Korea
Silkscreened in Seattle by the late
Jay Bob Hornstein
.
From the collection of former Seattle radio disc jockey and rock drummer Scott Vanderpool, who picked this up while covering Dan House's "Sales Czar" job at
Sub Pop Records
whenever Skin Yard went on tour.
About the time Sub Pop moved their corporate headquarters from
Bruce Pavitt's
Capitol Hill apartment to a couple of rooms at the top of the historic Terminal Sales Building on 1st avenue downtown, was the peak of sloganeering from Seattle's Lovable Losers, Bruce and partner
Jon Poneman
. Not sure who came up with the catchy...
Fudge Packin
Crack Smokin
Satan Worshippin
Mother****ers
But Sub Pop's very nice silkscreen guy Jay Bob did a lot of t-shirts with that slogan, and a few hats. This one was laying around the office. I put it on one day when I was there, and forgot to give it back I guess. Hats were very important back in the grungy grunge days here in the rainy Northwest, we'd all let our hair grow out in disgust at the popular hairstyles of the 80's...and a good baseball cap would keep the hair out of your eyes, and keep it from catching fire while doing bong hits.
Oh, and why am I selling it? I'm working as a substitute school teacher these days. We don't get paid for Christmas vacation...Need money!
