    Description

This is a restored and working very well Mitchell Lullaby model S1250 vacuum tube table top AM radio and bed lamp that cost when first introduced in 1951.  This radio is meant to slip over the bed headboard for a radio and reading lamp (in the photos it is shown on a chair).  It receives stations very well with good clear warm analog vacuum tube sound and volume with no hum using just the loop antenna inside the case with no need for an external antenna.  The 40 watt tube light bulb is turned on and off with the push button switch.  It has been tested for several days and should continue to play loud and clear for many, many more years.  I have restored over 500 old radios in the last 10 years.
The gray bakelite case has no cracks, chips or odors.  I have thoroughly washed, buffed and painted the case and it looks remarkable for a 70 year old.  The matching knobs and the speaker cloth are original.  The original hardboard back is still in great condition and shows the correct location of each tube. Attached to the back is a metal hanging bracket covered in plastic so the headboard is not scratched.  This restored radio would be interesting on a table, bed or shelf and could be used as a daily AM radio and/or lamp.
The inside chassis has been thoroughly cleaned; the volume control de-oxidized for smooth volume changes and all moving controls lubricated.  Failure of old capacitors is the most common reason old radios don’t work so all old electrolytic and paper capacitors in the chassis have been replaced with new modern capacitors and I have checked all resistors.
Brittle or bare wiring has been replaced or re-insulated.
The photos underneath the chassis show the quality and neatness of my electrical work.  All 5 easily found tubes have been tested and questionable tubes have been replaced.
The power cord has been replaced with a new white 18 gauge cord with a molded, polarized plug.  The speaker is in great condition.   The radio has been aligned and successfully bench tested for at least 12 hours over several days.
The radio size is approximately 5¾” high by 9½” wide by 9” deep when hanging on the bed and weighs over 4 pounds.  Shipping weight should be about 7 pounds.
I take pride in my shipping and the radio will be insured and carefully packaged to arrive safely.
Note:  If you are unsuccessful in winning this radio please check back to see what other radios I have for sale.  I list one restored old radio about every week.
