These are made from premium-quality hardwood stock, and have been rough-sanded, ready to be finished off in your special build.Due to variations in wood, each of the necks will be different in terms of exact grain, coloration and other details, but we guarantee that each neck we send out will be of the same high quality for cigar box guitar usage.
Neck Material: Walnut
Headstock Style: Basic/Plain (No Extensions)
Fretting: Chromatic, 25" Scale, Nickel-Silver Frets
We offer these necks in various domestic and exotic hardwoods, and various styles of fretted, slotted and headstock configurations. The fretted necks come with high-quality medium/medium nickel-silver fret wire that has been end-dressed and should be ready for use, though of course you can always smooth things down even more if you prefer.
Info About our CBG Necks:
Fretted and slotted necks are based on a 25 inch scale length.
This means that the intended distance from the NUT to the BRIDGE on the instrument should end up as exactly 25 inches. There are many other scale lengths used on various instruments, but we chose 25" as a nice middle-of-the-road standard.
Scarf jointed necks such as ours will show different grain patterns on the headstock.
We cut our scarf joints so that the visible portion of the joint is halfway up the headstock, instead of on the neck. This means that there will be two noticably different grain patterns on the headstock. If you choose a neck with headstock extensions, then the extensions will also have differing grain patterns. This is just the nature of gluing pieces of wood together to form a larger whole. If you want a consistent look to the headstock, we recommend gluing on a veneer that will cover up the underlying wood grain.
Exact look will vary from neck to neck.
We are dealing with natural wood here, which can vary fairly widely in terms of coloration, grain and occlusions across various species. We do our best to select nice-looking necks, often with interesting grain/occlusion features, but we never ship out a neck that we wouldn't be happy to use on one of our own guitars.
The neck may have a bit of back-bow.
We do not use boards with heavy bowing, but we do use boards with some light bowing. When we do, we make sure to always cut the headstock such that the headstock is bowed back instead of forward. This can actually be a good feature, since once the strings are on and tuned to pitch, the neck will be more resilient to the string tension. Some master guitar makers such as the Martin factory have been known to build necks with some built-in back bow, for this very reason.
You may need to cut the neck down a bit to match your guitar.
We keep the necks a bit longer than is generally used, to make them more versatile. Feel free to cut some off of the bottom to help meet your needs.
We do not pre-drill tuner holes or pre-cut box recesses.
These are neck "blanks" that will need to be milled/drilled to meet the needs of your instrument.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE READ...
We ship packages via the U. S. Postal Service, either First Class Mail International or Priority Mail International. While these services generally get packages anywhere in the world in 1 to 2 weeks, sometimes it can take longer - this is almost always because the Customs Office in your country delays the package. In some cases it has taken up to 4 weeks for a package to be delivered. We will not consider an item as "lost" until at least 30 days have passed from the time of shipment. Also, you may be responsible for local customs duties and taxes depending on your country's laws. We mark package values honestly, as required by the laws of the United States, so please don't ask us to declare a false value, or declare a package as a gift. If you are an international buyer, please be aware of these realities BEFORE buying.
Recycled Materials...
We use recycled cardboard as packaging materials whenever possible. Those of you who care about the environment can appreciate the value of this, and everyone can appreciate the fact that it helps keep our prices lower since we don't have to buy new cardboard for packaging. This may mean that our packaging materials occasionally show some shipping scuffs, labels, printing or other markings, but used cardboard does the job just fine. Hopefully you will find a way to recycle it on your end too!
Best Value vs. Cheapest Price...
Whenever possible, we try to make sure we have the best price on eBay for the products we offer. In the rare cases when another seller beats our price by a few pennies, we stand by my claim that our offer is the best VALUE on eBay. We are always available by e-mail to answer questions as best we can for anyone who buys products from us and needs advice. We certainly cannot answer every question authoritatively, but at the very least we can recommend where to go for more information. With C. B. Gitty Crafter Supply, you can be sure that your items will be well packaged, will ship on time, and will get to you as fast as USPS first class mail can deliver it.
