    The Italian engineers from Ducati designed the 1988-89 750 Sport model for riders who wanted superior performance from their machine, but in a light and agile package, capable of tackling joy rides in the weekend, as well as a Sunday track day, with ease.
    The cosmetic condition of this machine is just as it looks in the photos. Every finish on the machine is original. As far as I can tell, no part of the bike has been painted or re-finished.
    Please note this bike is technically a 1989 model, according to the frame, but it is, and always has been, titled as a 1990
    model, accounting for the fact it wasn't sold until 1990, which was a common occurrence in that time period with low production European motorcycles.
    The running condition of the machine is flawless, starting right up.
    This bike has been part of my collection for a while and just isn’t ridden enough, so it’s time for someone else to enjoy it. It’s basically a well-maintained and well cared for bike that runs and rides with absolutely no issues. Leave it the way it is (preferred) or restore it eventually after having some fun with it. I just happen to like this machine the way it is.
    The paint on the tank, fairings, etc. are original, and have never had any type of paintwork or touchup, as far as I can tell. The paint on the frame and associated parts is also original, and aside from some minor age freckling, is in good condition. The bike has never been in any type of accident or been dropped at any time.
    The seat is also original and is in very nice condition.
    The 750 Sport runs and rides the way you expect a machine with this type of mileage to run. All of the mechanical components have been checked over to ensure they work properly including the clutch and brakes.
    The original Weber is installed and works perfectly with no issues.
    All service is up to date including the all-important belt service.
    The fuel system was completely gone through this season and functions perfectly. The charging system also works perfectly. The tires currently installed are serviceable, and should be replaced if you plan to do anything but light riding and a show or two, but right now, there is absolutely nothing you will have to do to this motorcycle to ride and enjoy it this season.

    Ducati was in the swim if not cresting a wave in the late 1980’s, and their product managers knew how to shave development costs. The frame for the 750 Sport was a lightly modified F1 chassis, and the drivetrain came from the Paso. But the lightweight fairing showed off the trellis frame nicely and had eye-catching sunburst livery.  Power nudged the magical 100 hp / liter mark, and the sound was pure Desmodue. With weight under control, the 750 Sport reviewed as a competent handler, with an un-cramped riding position.
    It sports a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 748cc, 90-degree V-Twin powerhouse mated to a five-speed manual transmission, and can produce a claimed 75 horsepower and 70 foot pounds of torque.
    A foot in each decade, the 750 Sport used an F1-style frame and a Paso-style Weber carb for the belt-timed desmodue.  The size is more Paso than 851, making the Sport more of an all-rounder, a little more comfortable on a long ride.
    Also, it comes with a 40mm Marzocchi telescopic front fork coupled to a Marzocchi monoshock as a rear suspension, a Brembo braking system with dual front discs and a single disc in the rear, a full-fairing with a small windscreen, cast-aluminium wheels, analogue instrumentation dials, a single seat, a blacked-out exhaust system and a steel trellis frame.
    The 750 Sport is a worthy partner for weekend tours or rallies.  As ever a compromise, this one is a rarity not needing deep pockets. For a mid-size, an eager performer with enough room for an un-tucked adult.  Even more unusual than the later sun beam paint scheme, the bright blue and white graphics on red fairings recall an era when Ducati wasn’t hanging back waiting for your attention…
