    Description

This fingerboard came from a very nice Blonde'70s Ibanez Johnny Smith. My customer had me replace it with an Ebony fingerboard without any inlays. It's in great condition.I left the patina of light use intact but you could polish the frets and clean the top surface of the fingerboard and they would look almost new,as there are no fingernail gouges or other defects. It appears to be made from Macassar Ebony. The original frets(there are 20 frets total)are in good shape, showing only some mild wear on the first five. It's an appx.24-3/4"Gibson scale length and I'm guessing it's about a 14 to 16" stock Gibson radius. The width at the nut is appx.1-11/16",and the width at the end of the board is appx. 2-1/4".The end of the Johnny Smith's boards were straight across because the pickups were attached to the end of the of the neck/fbrd.The Super-400's & L-5's had a point at the end of their boards. The split block inlays are the same on the Johnny Smith's & Super-400's where as the L-5's had plain solid blocks.I mention the minutia because based on my experience, aside from the end point, the fingerboards on the Smith & 400's are probably the same and therefore interchangeable.Measuring your guitar's a good idea to ensure a proper fit.Five layer binding and real mother of pearl split block inlays.Nice quality materials and craftsmanship. It came off the Ibanez clean and easy with no damage. It's straight and ready to be prepped and glued to your custom build or restoration.I will also be posting the stock Gold Tailpiece in another listing.
