Description
This is a portable tube radio from the 40s-50s era, made by Emerson Radio and Phonograph Corp., New York, USA. It appears to be a deluxe model..it is a radio built into it's case. The top unsnaps, opens and a spring loaded button turns the radio on. The back of the top lid is a piece of reflective black plastic material. The bottom of the case unsnaps similar to the top which reveals the inner workings and battery spaces (See Photos). The case is a thick plastic with a slight mottled color which is suppose to resemble granite? The knobs turn well..there is a dark stain on the speaker cover (see photo 3 & 4). The top cover has a small hole and small crack on the left rear side which makes a slight noise when opened. The bottom of the case (last photo) shows surface wear. Overall, the 2 closing snaps work well, the sound and tuning knob work well..there is a carrying handle that pulls out of the end. I was told that the radio played well when used some time ago. I cannot check it..I cannot find a "Battery B" which appears to be an old style battery. It also takes a "Battery A" (See inside photos). Perhaps it can be restored or used for parts. It is 9"L x 4 1/4"W x 2 1/2" Thick. Listed by a friendly seller with a 100% feedback for years.
